Use of Lanyards with Predetermined and Re-attachable Braking Points
While many users use conveniently lanyards for securing small objects like USB flash drives, mp3 players, as well as tiny and portable cameras or all such electronic devices, usually the string has a predetermined and re-attachable breaking point.

Main purpose of such breaking point is that if at any time the string causes inconvenience or strangulation for the user, he or she can easily break it open without damaging or destroying the lanyards in use.

Objects with which the lanyards are attached for security and safekeeping usually have small holes in their body so that the ropes can be conveniently attached with them. Electronic devices often have such holes specifically meant for attaching lanyards to them that also has a corresponding hole to be attached to the devices with a loop thread.

Some innovative lanyards can also work as earphone cords thus performing the twin purpose of securing the device as well as use as a headphone chord. For instance; the Wii remote straps for the wrists is also a form of lanyards that keeps the device attached to the arm of the user and keeping them secure even when the user makes vigorous movements.
